Md Shafakat Islam is a graduate research assistant at the University of Florida. He earned his B.S. in Civil Engineering in 2018 from Islamic University of Technology in Bangladesh. Prior to joining University of Florida, Shafakat accumulated 3 years of work experience as a construction engineer for reinforced concrete buildings.
Shafakat’s research focuses on sustainable construction materials, concrete durability and cracking, finite element modelling and reinforced concrete structures. His main project focus consists of investigating the durability of mass concrete, as and exploring thermal and shrinkage concerns of Next Generation Concrete, for the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT).
